ASHA Presents a Reinstatement Opportunity for Past CCC Holders in Audiology

On January 1, 2007, ASHA implemented the new Standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Audiology. The Council for Clinical Certification is offering all those whose CCC has lapsed due to non-payment of annual fees or personal resignation the opportunity to reinstate under the old, 1993 standards.

Anyone who falls in the above category and has not recently received an invitation to reinstate through the mail may call the Action Center at 1-800-498-2071.

This offer will expire on December 21, 2007. After that date, the policy is as follows:

  1. If lapsed less than five years – submit a reinstatement application form, the fee and evidence of professional development hours based on the number of years lapsed.

  2. If lapsed more than five years – submit a new application for certification with the appropriate fee, obtain a passing score on the PRAXIS series examination within five years of application for reinstatement, complete a modified Clinical Fellowship (12 weeks duration), and accumulate 30 contact hours of professional development for the three years prior to the application for reinstatement.

Information on the 2007 Standards for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology can be found on the ASHA website at

 http://www.asha.org/about/membership-certifcation/certification/aud_standards_new.htm.

We encourage all those who are providing services to take advantage of this special offer.
