PSHA Distinguished Service Award

Purpose
The PSHA Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals or organizations—regardless of PSHA membership status—who have demonstrated exceptional support of PSHA’s mission and vision. Honorees may be recognized for advocacy, service, or leadership efforts that elevate PSHA and the professions at the state, national, or international level.

• Individuals or organizations
• PSHA membership not required

Recognition
Award recipients are invited to attend the PSHA Annual Convention with complimentary registration and hotel accommodations.

Nominations are made by the PSHA Executive Board

Honors of the Association

Purpose
The Honors of the Association is PSHA’s highest recognition for long-standing members who have demonstrated sustained and outstanding contributions to the association and the professions.

Eligibility
• Continuous PSHA professional membership for the ten (10) years immediately preceding nomination
• Demonstrated service and impact in at least two of the following areas:

• Research and publications

• Teaching and professional education

• Administrative service

• Clinical service

• Service to professional organizations

Members of the PSHA Executive Leadership Team (President, Past President, Vice Presidents) may not nominate or be nominated.

Recognition
PSHA maintains a Hall of Honor recognizing current and past recipients on the website.

Honors of the Association Application

Amy S. Goldman Advocacy Award

Purpose
The Amy S. Goldman Advocacy Award recognizes and supports advocacy initiatives that result—or are expected to result—in sustainable change at the local, state, or national level. Advocacy may be clinical, administrative, community-based, or legislative in nature.

This award honors Amy S. Goldman, a long-time PSHA leader and advocate whose commitment to advancing access and equity has shaped the professions across Pennsylvania.

Eligibility
• PSHA members only
• Open to students and professionals (individuals or groups)

Award Categories
• Retrospective Advocacy: Recognition of completed advocacy efforts (no monetary award)
• Prospective Advocacy: Support for planned advocacy initiatives (between $250-$500)

Criteria
Applications are evaluated on demonstrated or anticipated outcomes leading to: • Policy changes
• Procedural changes
• Increased access for individuals with communication or swallowing disorders

Marketing or general awareness activities are not eligible.

Application Requirements
• 500–1000 word narrative
• Evidence of outcomes (retrospective) or defined objectives and budget (prospective)

Deadline
February 15

Presentation
Awards are presented at the PSHA Annual Convention.

Amy S. Goldman Advocacy Award Application

PSHA Rising Star Award

Purpose
The Rising Star Award recognizes an early-career professional who demonstrates exceptional promise and impact in advancing the professions through clinical practice, research, leadership, or service.

Eligibility
• Fully licensed SLP, audiologist, or educator of the hearing impaired in Pennsylvania
• PSHA member
• 1–5 years post–clinical fellowship experience

Rising Star Award Application

Appreciation of Service Awards

Purpose
Appreciation of Service Awards honor individuals who have provided significant service to PSHA in leadership or convention-related roles.

Eligibility
• Outgoing PSHA officers
• Convention Program Chairs
• Convention Local Arrangements Chairs

Selection Process
Nominees are submitted by PSHA leadership and voted on by the Awards Committee.
